Something for Tom to Peruse
So anyway, being that I failed somewhat miserably at the last attempt to get Jenny's computer upgraded, I wanted to have a second set of eyes look over the part list for the new one. If you get a chance, Tom, tell me what you think about these:
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a spx?Item=N82E16813121059
Processor:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a spx?Item=N82E16819115028
(Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHZ Conroe)
Memory:

Graphics Card:

New PSU:

Monitor:

As you can see, I picked a very well liked Intel motherboard and a Core 2 Duo processor. Since the Intel motherboard was designed to be Crossfire capable, I went with an ATI graphics card (Direct X 10 compatible), not that I ever intend to go to using Crossfire (they recommend 750 watts of power to use two cards!)
Even though I'm sticking with the one graphics card, I've heard these ATI beasts get a little juice hungry so I picked out a 550 watt power supply, just in case. Surely that's enough juice.
Rounding it out is a Samsung monitor, because, well, I like those.
Finally, since I botched the heatstink choice so badly last time, I was wondering if you had any recommendations on a CPU cooler for this setup.
Sorry to be a pest, but the Maternal Unit wants me to finalize this so we can apply for financial aid reimbursement.
If this works out Jenny will surely draw a Train-Zombie for you, or something.
PS: Have you heard anything about one of these? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a spx?Item=N82E16822240001
I'm thinking about it as a lazy-mans backup box.
